GrEAT Sports is our newest session. It started in early 2016, shortly after we appointed a full-time GrEAT Coordinator – Adam. The aim of GrEAT Sports is to fill a regional gap in the provision of non-specific sporting activities to adults with disabilities and to act as a replacement of AllSorts to graduated athletes.
What happens at GrEAT Sports?
GrEAT Sports provides taster sessions of a whole range of different sports. Each sport is usually run by a specialist partner across three one-hour sessions so that members get a proper introduction to it, The sessions encourage our members to get active in a familiar and social environment and offer a route into all the different sports we try.
Volunteers help members to participate in the sports, either working with an individual or within a group.
When and where is GrEAT Sports held?
Usually GrEAT Sessions sessions are on Tuesdays, 7:00-8:00pm at Leys Pools and Leisure Centre. However, we also visit other places in Oxford and sometimes on different days, so check the KEEN Review or contact the office to make sure!
If you’re not a student, we need you to fill out a DBS check form before you come to your first session – contact Steph in the KEEN Office for more details.
