About us

KEEN is a charity providing sports and social activities for Oxfordshire people with special needs, supported by hundreds of volunteers.

What do we do?

KEEN provides sporting and social activities for Oxfordshire young people with special needs. Our regular sessions are: AllSorts, an inclusive multisports session; Zig-Zag, a creative workshop; KEEN Teens, a social club for teenagers; and GrEAT, a social club for over-18s. As of 2016 we also run an adult only sports club, GrEAT Sports. Activities are planned, led and supported by volunteers, many of whom are students at Oxford's universities and sixth forms, and we aim to give our participants one-to-one attention. KEEN is registered charity number 1157084 in England and Wales, and affiliated to Mencap as a Gateway Club.

What's on & when is it?

Keen-Allsorts.jpg
AllSorts is our Saturday afternoon sports session. It’s split into two halves – the first for 4 to 13 year olds and the second for 14 to 25 year olds.

GrEAT-Social.jpg
GrEAT Social is KEEN’s social club for over 18s. We aim to provide age-appropriate activities that make our members feel as independent and included as possible.

GrEAT-Sports.jpg
GrEAT Sports was set up to fill a regional gap in the provision of non-specific sporting activities to adults with disabilities and to act as a replacement of AllSorts to graduated athletes.

Keen-Teens.jpg
KEEN Teens is a social club for teenagers. It aims to provide age-appropriate social activities and most importantly lots of fun!

Zig-Zag.jpg
Zig-Zag is our weekly drama, music and craft workshop aimed at primary school aged children.

Alongside our regular sessions, we also run a variety of daytrips and special events called KEEN+ through the year, such as ice skating, bowling, museum trips and ceilidhs. Look out for updates at the beginning of each term to see which events will be coming up!
